I'm not here to complain about DC Comics moving to reboot several Hanna-Barbera characters, which includes Scooby-Doo and The Flintstones, there has already been enough of that. 

I'm at your service to try and convince you -- and myself -- that this is a good thing. 

First off, JOHNNY QUEST and SPACE GHOST are in the news and that makes my heart sing. 

Secondly, Evan 'Doc' Shaner, Jeff Parker and Jodie Bellaire represent one hell of a creative team. 

Do I want to see Doc and Parker's version of Johnny Quest, Space Ghost in Future Quest? Oh, God, yes. 

After seeing Shaner's work on the Shazam! series, this should have fans of these characters ecstatic. He captures that old school feel better than anyone in the game. Bar none. His attention to detain, facial expressions and his ability to make everything look so simple yet intricate is nearly unmatchable. 

Shaner and Parker killed the Flash Gordon series; OH IMAGINE THAT, ANOTHER OLD SCHOOL CHARACTER. My point is, DC Comics clearly did their homework when picking cartoonists and writers. 

Shaner and Parker's Flash Gordon series was ranked No. 31 on Comic Book Resources top 100 comic books of 2014. Flash Gordon getting recognition in 2014 is impressive enough. 

So, chill. DC isn't installing Scooby Doo and Flintstone urinal cakes at their offices, their trying to bring these characters into a new generation of fans and they've done a hell of a job putting together a creative team. 

When I first saw the headlines Thursday morning, Jan. 28, I, like everyone else, immediately reacted with the typical negativity. It's a part of the comic book culture that I will never understand. Negativity fuels negativity and I let it control my feelings toward this without doing the proper research. 

Conclusion: I love these characters. These are some of my favorite creators in the comic book world. I love good art and new stories, and so do you. 

DC will roll these characters out these characters with not just new stories, but in brand-new worlds. Scooby Apocalypse, Future Quest, Wacky Raceland and The Flintstones were among the first four titles announced for reboot. 

I'm not going to sit here and lie that I have the same level of confidence when it comes to Jim Lee, Keith Giffen, and Howard Porter's Scooby Apocalypse. Fred, Daphne, Velma and Shaggy's new incarnations look like someone you would run into at an indie coffee shop in downtown Ann Arbor. There's no escaping that one. 

So, yeah. 

BACK TO OPTIMISM. JOHNNY QUEST AND SPACE GHOST, GUYS. Let's let Jim Lee explain this one:

“I’m a huge Scooby Doo fan, as I think most people are,” Lee told Entertainment Weekly. “I mean, look at these iconic series and they were cultural touchstones for everyone. All my kids know of Scooby Doo from the various cartoons and live action movies, and we’re in a period where you have people my age that are spending their days thinking about cartoon and sci-fi action movies. It’s a multigenerational obsession at this point, and we just thought it would just be really interesting to take the cartoon version of these characters and see where they would be if we took what existed in the very first iteration of the cartoon and moved it into this day and age.”

Wacky Raceland and Mad Max are being mouthed in the same sentence, so that's really neat. Mark Sexton and Ken Pontac will lead the creative team on that one. 

Amanda Conner and Mark Russell will get their hands on The Flintstones. I'm having a really hard time looking at the promo image for the Flintstones. Fred looks like The Hulk as a white pre-historic 1990s MLB player. 

Release dates have yet to be announced. This started as an article trying to hype these up, instead you just got a confusing look into the mind of a comic book fan.
