5 Reasons You Should Already Be Watching Deadly Class
/Let's get this out of the way: Deadly Class is kicking all sorts of ass 3 episodes in. Rick Remender is delivering a love letter to one of his greatest works on the TV screen once a week. If you NEED more reasons to watch? Here are 5 of them that jumped into my brain:
1. Loyalty to the source material

Rick Remender and Wes Craig are the creators of Deadly Class, the comic. Rick Remender and Wes Craig are involved deeply with Deadly Class, the show. Both tweet frequently about their contributions to the episodes and it shows.

2. The SOUNDTRACK

Set in 1987, Deadly Class is arguably set in one of the more unique times in musical history in America. Well into the hair metal era but with main characters more into punk and alternative, this soundtrack has been a frequent Spotify spin for me.
3. Phenomenal casting
One of the marketing lines for Deadly Class has been "ripped straight off the page" and with how much the cast resembles their 2D counterparts? It isn't an oversell. The physical resemblances are not what makes this cast sizzle though. There is an absolute bit of star power with Benedict Wong playing Master Lin. Henry Rollins as teacher Jurgen Denke is amazing casting too. A fitting moment as he trains another generation of punks. But the students are really the heart and soul of the show and they are phenomenal.

Lana Condor is unreal as Saya. Mysterious. Deadly. Beautiful. Luke Tennie as Willie is handling an incredibly complex character and role with incredible skill. Willie has layers upon layers and his relationship with Marcus has been a highlight of these early episodes to me.

Of course, much like The CW's sexy murder comic show Riverdale, Deadly Class was only going to be as good as it's leading man. Benjamin Wadsworth is an impeccable Marcus. Both tough as hell and introspective as the ideal late 80s man, Wadsworth captures a young man thrust into a world he doesn't think he belongs in who is exactly what that world needs. This role was made for him.

4. The Guest Stars!!!!
While I anxiously await an appearance from Syfy stars like Patton Oswalt and Christopher Meloni of Happy, Deadly Class has had it's share of "OH SHIT!" moments right out of the gate. Episode 2 featured comedian and noted nerd Brian Posehn as a weed dealer at a high school party. Episode 3 had Franch Stewart as Scorpio Slasher which was WONDERFUL.

5. THE VIOLENCE.
